14th Convocation and Diploma Award Ceremony of NISD

The National Institute of Social Development (NISD) proudly held its 14th Convocation and Diploma Award Ceremony on the 19th of December at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre. The event celebrated the academic milestones of postgraduates, graduates, and diploma holders in social work and allied fields, honoring their dedication and commitment to advancing social development.

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Malarmathi Gangadharan, Secretary to the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment, alongside esteemed members of the Governing Council, Academic Affairs Board, the Director General, Additional Director General (Academic), Directors, Registrar, lecturers, and supportive academic staff. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and institutional excellence of NISD.

Senior Professor K.L. Wasantha Kumara, Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission, delivered a thought-provoking convocation speech on the theme, “Reimagining Education for Social Development: Bridging Gaps and Building Futures in Sri Lanka.” His insightful address resonated with the audience, inspiring graduates to embrace innovative approaches in their professional endeavors.

Degrees and diplomas were conferred during the ceremony, marking a proud moment for the graduates and their families. Additionally, awards for academic excellence and outstanding contributions to fieldwork highlighted the event, recognizing individuals who demonstrated exceptional dedication and impact.
