BSW Students Participate in Institutional Site Visit

As part of the Social Welfare and Development course, first-year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students participated in a structured Institutional Site Visit held on May 30–31 and June 6–7, 2025, in Anuradhapura. This field exposure aimed to bridge classroom learning with real-world practices in social welfare settings.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore and observe the operations of several key institutions, including:
• Probation and Child Care Service
• SOS Children’s Village
• Shanthi Sevana State Home for Elders
• Mithra Children’s Home
• Anuradhapura Prison
These visits provided students with valuable firsthand insights into the services, challenges, and interventions carried out by professionals in diverse social welfare environments. The experience significantly enhanced their understanding of institutional care, rehabilitation processes, and community-based service delivery models.
