
CGS Tamil Webinar Series on “Gender-Based Violence and Its Impact: Awareness & Prevention”
The CGS Tamil Webinar Series on “Gender-Based Violence and Its Impact: Awareness & Prevention” was successfully conducted via Zoom on 23rd May 2025, starting at 7:30 PM onwards. The webinar attracted around 100 participants, including students, social work professionals, activists, and community members, reflecting strong interest and engagement on this critical social issue. The session was led by Dr. Jeganathan Thatparan, LLM Attorney-at-Law, Child Rights Legal Consultant, and Lecturer in Constitutional Law and International Human Rights Law at NISD. Dr. Thatparan delivered an insightful and informative presentation on the different forms of gender-based violence, its legal and social implications, and the importance of prevention, reporting, and collective responsibility. Participants actively engaged in the discussion, raising thoughtful questions and sharing perspectives, which enriched the learning experience. The webinar successfully increased awareness, encouraged dialogue, and reinforced the importance of speaking out against gender-based violence. Overall, the program was impactful, informative, and well-received, marking another successful initiative by the Centre for Gender Studies (CGS).
