Keerthi Jayawardena earned BA (Honors) in Sociology from the University of Ruhuna in 2006. Following this, he pursued his Master’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Colombo in 2013, alongside completing a Certificate Course in Research from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Beginning his career as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Ruhuna, Keerthi dedicated three years to this role before transitioning to the National Institute of Social Development in 2013 as a Research Officer. Through his dedication and expertise, he ascended to the position of Senior Research Officer in 2018, actively contributing to various research endeavors spearheaded by the Social Development Policy, Research, and Publication Division. Keerthi’s involvement extends beyond his institutional roles, as evidenced by his active participation in both national and international conferences, where he has held academic and administrative responsibilities. His contributions to academic and research endeavors encompass diverse areas such as social work, social development, and social policy formulation within Sri Lankan society. In 2023, with the National Institute of Social Development’s ambition to transition into a university, Keerthi embraced the role of Senior Lecturer within the Department of Sociology, further solidifying his position as a valuable asset to the institution.
