Sandya Sirikumara earned BA (Honors) in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya in 2009. Following this, he pursued his Master’s Degree in Sociology at the University of Kelaniya in 2013, alongside completing a Certificate Course in Research from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Beginning his career as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kelaniya, Sandya Sirikumara dedicated one years to this role before transitioning to the National Institute of Social Development in 2013 as a Research Assistent. Through his dedication and expertise, he ascended to the position of Research Officer in 2014, actively contributing to various research endeavors spearheaded by the Social Development Policy, Research, and Publication Division. Sandya’s involvement extends beyond his institutional roles, as evidenced by his active participation in both national and international conferences, where he has held academic and administrative responsibilities. His contributions to academic and research endeavors encompass diverse areas such as social work, social development, and social policy formulation within Sri Lankan society. In 2023, with the National Institute of Social Development’s ambition to transition into a university, Sandya embraced the role of Lecturer 11 within the Department of Sociology, further solidifying his position as a valuable asset to the institution.

She is a humble individual who enjoys consistently evolving and acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes in life, step by step. Consequently, her vision is to become an honest professional social worker dedicated to intervening at any moment with unconditional positive regard for the well-being of mankind.
