Welcome to the Curriculum Development Committee (CDC)

Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) – NISD

Welcome to the Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) of the National Institute of Social Development (NISD). As a pivotal body, our committee is dedicated to upholding the highest standards in curriculum development and review, ensuring alignment with established processes, policies, and regulations.

Mandate:

The CDC at NISD is a standing committee entrusted with the responsibility of meticulously overseeing curriculum development and review processes. Our objective is to ensure that these processes adhere to the curriculum policies and regulations set forth by Standing Committee on Accreditation and Quality Assurance (SCAQA) of Sri Lanka, the Internal Centre for Quality Assurance Cell (ICQA) chaired by the Director, and the National Institute of Social Development (NISD).

Functions:

  • Receive and review curriculum proposals, encompassing new credit or non-credit courses and significant revisions to or removal of existing credit courses.
  • Evaluate new and revised Curriculum Guidelines, covering aspects such as teaching methodologies, syllabi, materials, and examination procedures.
  • Consider proposals related to formative and summative examination procedures, regulations, and the co-curricular framework.

Review Process:

The Committee adopts a comprehensive approach, seeking input from diverse sources, consulting specialists when necessary, and formulating reports with pertinent recommendations. The final approval process involves presenting recommendations to the Faculty Board of NISD. Only upon the Committee’s recommendation can the CDC seek formal approval during a Faculty Board Meeting. Subsequently, the details of any approved changes are forwarded to the Academic Affairs Board AAB and Council of NISD for final approval or information.
