Orientation Programme – BSW 2025/2026 Intake

The Orientation Programme for the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) 2025/2026 Intake at the National Institute of Social Development was successfully conducted through the collective dedication, commitment, and generous support of numerous individuals and institutions.

We extend our deepest appreciation to the institutional leadership for their invaluable guidance and continuous encouragement: Prof. Premakumara de Silva (Director General), V. Vasudevan (Additional Director General), and V. Jeyaruban (Director, School of Social Work).

Our sincere gratitude is also extended to the distinguished external resource persons — Prof. Anusha Edirisinghe, Mr. Nadeeka Guruge, Dr. Ravi Silva, Mr. Lalith K. Ganegodarachchi, Ms. Nilani Aluthge, Mr. Ishan Jalil, Mr. Vinoth, Mr. Weerasinham, Ms. Rameeza Khan, and Mr. Rashad Ahamed for their valuable contributions, insightful sessions, and professional expertise, which greatly enriched the learning experience of our new students.

We also extend our appreciation to the internal academic staff who conducted sessions and shared their knowledge with the new intake: Ms. Manjula Wijesekara, Ms. Kumuduni Wedisinghe, Mr. Irron Jayasekara, and Mr. Y. M. Nimasath.

We further express our appreciation to the Sri Lanka Police Department and the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board for their important contributions in enhancing student awareness on safety, legal responsibilities, and social wellbeing.

We gratefully acknowledge the dedication and tireless efforts of both academic and non-academic staff, particularly the School of Social Work team, who served as the main organizing body of this orientation programme. Their commitment, coordination, and leadership were instrumental in ensuring the successful planning and execution of this event.

We also extend our appreciation to the supporting divisions — the Training Division, the Research Division, the Admin and Finance Division, the Registrar’s Division, the IT Unit, the Student Welfare Unit, and the Library — along with all non-academic staff members whose collective efforts ensured the smooth and effective organization of the programme.

Special appreciation is extended to the 2024/2025 batch students and all NISD students for their enthusiastic support and coordination, which created a welcoming and supportive environment for the new intake.

Finally, we sincerely appreciate all internal and external stakeholders and other relevant partners whose cooperation and assistance played a vital role in making this orientation programme a meaningful and successful beginning for our new cohort.
