Appeal Board – National Institute of Social Development: NISD

ABOUT US

The Appeal Board addresses concerns raised by students who disagree with their examination results, requests for relief based on medical grounds, matters related to the consideration of submitted medical certificates, and any other forms of appeals submitted by students in accordance with the institutional regulations.

OBJECTIVES

To ensure fairness, transparency, and consistency in the handling of student appeals.
To provide students with an opportunity to appeal against examination results and related academic decisions.
To consider appeals based on valid medical grounds and supporting medical documentation.
To review decisions and recommendations made by relevant academic and examination bodies where applicable.
To ensure that all appeals are addressed in accordance with the rules, regulations, and procedures of the National Institute of Social Development (NISD).
To uphold principles of natural justice in the appeal process.
To maintain the integrity and credibility of the academic assessment system.
To make fair and impartial recommendations or decisions based on evidence and institutional policies.

FUNCTIONS

To receive and register appeals submitted by students regarding examination results and academic decisions.
To review examination results, academic records, and relevant documentation submitted in support of appeals.
To consider appeals related to medical grounds, including evaluation of medical certificates and supporting evidence.
To examine decisions and recommendations made by relevant academic and examination authorities.
To conduct hearings or inquiries where necessary to ensure a fair review of each appeal.
To ensure that all appeals are processed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the National Institute of Social Development (NISD).
To ensure fairness, transparency, and adherence to principles of natural justice in all decisions.
To make recommendations or decisions regarding the outcome of appeals.
To communicate final decisions of the Appeal Board to the relevant students through the proper channels.
To maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of all appeal proceedings.
To submit Appeal Board decisions to the Academic Affairs Board for approval.
