NISD Conducts Dengue Awareness and Prevention Campaign
The National Institute of Social Development (NISD) successfully conducted a Dengue Awareness and Prevention Campaign on 24 June 2026 as part of its commitment to promoting a healthy and safe learning environment.
The awareness programme was conducted by Dr. Ravi Mudalige, Medical Officer of Health (MOH), who educated students and staff on the current Dengue situation in Sri Lanka, methods of preventing mosquito breeding, early identification of Dengue symptoms, and the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
During the campaign, participants were encouraged to actively eliminate mosquito breeding sites both within the institute and in their homes. The programme also emphasized the shared responsibility of staff and students in supporting national efforts to control the spread of Dengue.
In addition to the awareness session, NISD carried out an inspection and cleaning programme across the institute premises to identify and eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites.
NISD remains committed to safeguarding the health and well-being of its community through continuous awareness programmes, regular environmental inspections, and preventive initiatives in collaboration with public health authorities.
