Official observation visit by an evaluation panel from the University of Kelaniya
The National Institute of Social Development (NISD) successfully conducted an official observation visit by an evaluation panel from the University of Kelaniya on 22th July 2026 as part of the ongoing institutional affiliation and quality assurance process. The visit was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Prema Kumara De Silva, Director General of NISD, who actively coordinated the institutional engagement and facilitated discussions with the visiting evaluation panel.
The evaluation panel from the University of Kelaniya consisted of Prof. H.A.K.N.S. Surangi (Director, Centre for Quality Assurance and Chair of the Evaluation Panel), Snr. Prof. Priyani Paranagama (Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies), Prof. Chandima Abeysinghe (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences), Prof. L.D.S. Vitharana (Evaluation Panel Member), Dr. Pavithra Godamunne (Evaluation Panel Member), and Dr. Madhu Wasala (Coordinator, Centre for Quality Assurance).
During the observation visit, the panel reviewed NISD’s academic programmes, institutional facilities, administrative arrangements, and quality assurance practices. The visit provided an important opportunity for academic discussions and evaluation of NISD’s readiness towards strengthening institutional collaboration and maintaining higher education standards.
